Garmin Nuvi Australia Maps

Hi,First time posting and in need of help! I suppose that that's not an uncommon situation.My trusty Nuvi 2250 all of a sudden became not so trusty recently when I was attempting to add a new favourite. (I have added favourites before and never had a problem.) The issue happened at the same time as I installed a map update, but I don't recall which I did first - map update or add the favourite.

I have the message 'FM Traffic provider database is missing. Go to www.garmin.com/webupdater Press OKApart from the fact that that address doesn't work, 'webupdater' hasn't been able to help me fix the problem. Webupdater doesn't see the unit. I have a blank map screen with a position indicator. Everything else seems to work. It records distances and speed. I just can't use it to give me directions or see where I am.Garmin tried to help for about 10 minutes, but after that, they said that because it was an older unit, it wasn't supported and I would have to buy a new GPS.

Well, I like this small unit and they don't make any non-widescreen units any longer, apparently.I've always had the Nuvi running off a Mac. You could also try a different computer. Make sure it is directly connected to the computer and not a USB hub.If none of this works, you have very few options left. Garmin won't help, as you've already learned. Even if they wanted to help, they are not going to repair a device that old (the Nuvi 2250 was introduced in 2011).

If it were a current model, they probably would have just swapped it for another one, but that is no longer an option.Hope you get it working again, but unfortunately, your options are rather limited. I will say, however, the fact that it starts up and you can actually access the menus, is a hopeful sign that your problem may just be a corrupt or missing map file.
